Where Will I Belong?
Patt

Conner awoke to a splitting headache and glanced around and realized she
didn't know where the hell she was. She turned over and realized she was in
bed with Jim Ellison. Blair Sandburg's Jim Ellison. Oh My God, Conner
thought, what the fuck am I doing in their bed? And did we do anything? She
felt between her legs moving up slowly and cringed. Not only did they do
things, but also there was no condom involved. Fuck.

She reached down and picked up her clothing and started getting dressed. She
reached over and tapped Jim on the shoulder, dreading it, but needing to ask
him if he had any clue as to how they got here. He opened his eyes and
glared at her.

Jim said, "Conner, what the hell are you doing up here and why are you waking
me up? While you're at it, could you tell the person running the jackhammer
to stop working, I'm trying to sleep?"

Okay, thought Conner that means he doesn't know either. She sat back on the
bed and said, "Okay, Ellison time to wake up, we have a little dilemma here."

He looked at her this time, really looked at her and saw the clothing being
buttoned as she spoke; he smelled the air and realized he smelled a woman in
this bed. Then it also dawned on him that it might have been Conner. He sat
up and pulled the sheet around him. Fuck, he thought.

Panicking, Jim said, "Conner, please tell me I didn't sleep with you. Oh God,
please. He'll never forgive me."

Conner couldn't get over the look of alarm on his face at the thought of
losing his lover. She sat next to him and said, "Jim, I don't remember a
damn thing about last night. The last thing I remember is having a Coke at
the bar that we were staking out. How about you?"

Jim thought about it for a second and said, "Yeah, same here. I didn't have
any drinks, just a Coke. So what do you think was given to us? And how did
we get home?"

"Ellison," Conner said, "I'm telling you I don't remember anything either.
So, I have all of the same questions as you."

She got up from the bed, went down the stairs and looked out the window,
seeing what she needed to and made her way back up the stairs.

"Ellison," Conner said, "your pickup is outside the loft, so that's how we
got home. I don't know how we got here, but we did."

Jim said, "Are you sure we did anything?" And Conner almost wanted to cry at
the despairing sound in his voice. She knew that he was scared about losing
Sandy.

Conner said, "Yes, I'm sure and we didn't use a condom. I'm just as freaked
out about this as you are, Ellison." Jim answered, "I don't think so. You're
not going to lose your best friend, your guide and your lover all in one
moment."

"Okay, now listen to me for a minute," Conner said, "Sandy doesn't have to
know. We'll never bring it up, I don't want to lose him as a friend either.
Let's consider keeping this to ourselves."

Jim said, "Conner, we can't do that. Jesus, what the fuck are we going to
do?"

Conner answered, "Well, I suggest we get ready and have Dan Wolfe draw some
blood from both of us and have it analyzed. That way we at least will know
what we're up against. Agreed?"

"Conner," Jim said, "we can't go on like this didn't happen. I have to tell
Sandburg, as soon as he comes home."

Conner angrily said, "Well, that's just great for you, he loves you, he might
forgive you. What about me? He's one of my closest friends and I know he'll
never talk to me again."

Sitting on the bed, next to Jim, she started crying. God, she hated that.
Such a weakness, she thought. But Sandy was her best friend.

Jim just took her into his arms and held her and said, "Conner, we'll decide
what to do and go with what is best for all of us. Don't worry. Sandburg
won't stop talking to you. He likes you too much."

"Not after this," Conner added, "he'll never want to talk to me or look at me
again."

Jim finally said, "All right Conner, I don't think it is a good idea, but we
won't say anything to Sandburg for now."

She got off the bed and said, "Lets go have that blood drawn and see what was
given to us. We need to find out who slipped that to us."

"I say that we do that right after we get our blood done," Jim said, "by the
time Blair gets home tonight, we might have a clue so I won't be so nervous
when he gets here."

"And I have your word," Conner said, "that you won't say a word to him about
this?"

Jim said, "Conner, yes, I won't say anything. I don't feel right about it,
but I know I'm not the only person that this will affect."

Jim whispered, "Conner, I'm so sorry." Having said this he hung his head and
just stood there.

Conner walked over to him and said, "We aren't the ones to blame here, Jim.
You don't have to be sorry. But someone's going to be."

Conner left the room so that Jim could get up and dressed. He went and
showered and got ready to go.

When he came out, Conner was by the front door waiting for him. He said,
"Conner you might want to think about taking a shower or everyone will know
what we were doing."

She slugged him in the arm and made her way into the shower. Jim knocked on
the door and said, here are some sweats and a tee you can wear till be get to
your apartment." Opening the door just wide enough to set them in, he then
shut it.

She came out feeling much better. Looking much better too. They headed down
the stairs and got into the pickup. Both were quiet. They had a lot
weighing on their minds today.

Jim was thinking about Sandburg coming home tonight and how he'd be able to
tell that he had been with someone else. Jim was scared to death. No other
way to look at it.

They stopped off at Megan's apartment so she could pick up some clean
clothing. She filled a bag to take to the locker room also. You never know
when you'll need clean clothing. Then she got dressed and went back down to
the truck.

When they got to work, they went right down and had Dan Wolfe draw blood and
analyze it for them. He said, "I'll send the results up as soon as I get
them."

Both Conner and Jim said at the same time, "No."

Jim said, "Dan, we'll come down here for the results."

Dan said, "Whatever. I'll see you both later today. I'll call you as soon as
I find out, Jim."

Jim said, "Thanks Dan. I appreciate this."

They both went up to the bullpen and buried themselves in paperwork. It had
to be a first with Jim offering to do paperwork for Brown and Rafe. They all
were laughing as Rafe said, "Man, he must be missing Hairboy a lot more than
we thought."

Dan Wolfe called up to Jim's desk about five hours later and said, "Jim, why
don't you and Conner come on down, I got those results. And they aren't
good."

He grabbed Conner and they went down to Dan's office. They knocked and went
in and sat down. He said, "Okay, I now know why you two were acting so
strangely this morning. This is a huge dose of something like a Mickey.
Except it also has Rohypnol in it too. So, you not only want to have sex,
but you have memory loss for some time afterwards. So, this was given to
both of you and you acted on it?"

Conner just stood there with her head down and finally Jim said, "Yeah, Dan.
We don't know what to do. You know I don't want to screw up my relationship
with Blair and Conner doesn't want to lose one of her best friends either."

Dan said, "Jim I really think you both ought to think about this some more.
Lying is never the answer. Sandburg is a big boy, he can take the truth,
it's not like it was some scheme to get in bed together. Besides there is
something else you might want to think about."

They both looked up and said, "What?"

Dan said, "I love how you two answer everything together. Well, I ran a test
on your blood Conner and I think you might be pregnant. It picks up on
pregnancy sometimes as early as the morning after. And yours said it was
positive."

Jim just sat there with his mouth hanging open. Conner said, "When will we
know for sure?"

Dan said, "Come in and I'll do a test in a week. I'll know for sure then.
And this is something Sandburg has to be told, if you plan on keeping that
child, Conner."

They left Dan's office and didn't say a word. Conner turned to Jim and said,
"Ellison can you take me home when we are done here?"

Jim answered, "Sure, I'm almost done, are you?"

Conner said, "I'm ready if you are. I want to get out of here. I need to
talk to you. And I know that Sandy comes home tonight. We need to clean the
loft up before he gets there."

Jim said, "Lets tell Simon we are leaving and then we'll get out of here."
They went in and told Simon that they were leaving and they'd see him the
next day.

Simon said, "Tell Sandburg welcome home, but no loafing, I want him here
first thing in the morning."

Jim said, "Will do, Simon. Talk to you tomorrow."

The ride down the elevator was quiet as was the walk to the pickup. Once
inside the pickup, Jim started driving and headed down the road. Conner
turned to Jim and said, "All right, I have no clue as to what to do now.
I've always wanted a child, but never found anyone to have one with. But I
don't want to put pressure on you to have one with me."

Jim just looked at her and said, "Conner, there is no me and you. There is
Sandburg and I. So I want to know how I would be pushed into having a child
with you when I didn't have anything to say about it in the first place."

Conner just stared at him with her mouth open and tears filling her eyes.
She said, "Jim, pull the truck over right now."

He pulled over to the side of the street and she got out and started walking
up the street. Not even looking back to see if he was watching. She didn't
care at this point. Tears were falling down her cheeks and she was so
depressed and decided that the thing to do would be to go home. To
Australia.

She glanced over to side of her and saw the pickup following her. Jim
stopped, got out and walked over to Conner and said, "I'm sorry, Conner. I
didn't mean it. I'm really upset about this whole thing. But now we need to
tell Sandburg what happened, we don't have any choice. And I want you to
know that I'll be here for you during the whole thing. And I hope that
you'll let me be in his or her life."

Conner went into his arms and started crying hard. She said, "Ellison let me
go and pick Sandy up with you tonight. I want to help you tell him. I think
it should be both of us."

Jim nodded and said, "I think you might be right. This is going to be so
damned hard. We discussed having a child once and Blair told me he didn't
want to think about me with a woman. So, this is going to be really
difficult. He's not going to take it well."

Conner said, "Well, let's go get the loft cleaned up and then make up a nice
dinner and we'll go and pick him up. We can cross that bridge when we come
to it."

"Sounds good," Jim said, "he'll be thrown off by all this, but we can do it
together and make him believe that he hasn't anything to worry about. He's
really insecure when it comes to me."

The drive home was a really quiet one, both of them being lost in their own
thoughts. Megan was thinking what the hell am I going to do? I can't bring
up a child alone? Maybe I could adopt this baby out. But what if this baby
is a small Sentinel. Oh shit, that thought never even occurred to her until
now. No doubt Jim hadn't thought of that yet. But chances are, Blair will
be thinking that the entire time.

Once at the loft, they got the bedroom back to its original order and then
went and cleaned the living room. Conner went into the kitchen and started
cooking dinner. She didn't even ask, she just found the ingredients in the
freezer and fridge and started cooking. She was very comfortable with Jim.
She always was. He would make a wonderful father. She realized at this point
that she did like Ellison a lot.

As she was cooking, she said, "Jim, could I sleep in Sandy's old room
tonight? Then we don't have to worry about being late to work. I have extra
things in my bag from my locker at work."

"I don't care Conner," Jim said, "whatever you want. I just don't want Blair
to be upset by any of this. If he is, I'll take you home. We'll play it by
ear."

And for the first time, Conner realized that Jim was just as vulnerable as
she was. He was so afraid of losing his life mate. He loved Sandy so much
and everyone knew this. Megan hoped that Sandy would understand and not be
too angry with either of them.

Everything was ready; loft all cleaned, dinner simmering on low, now all they
needed was Blair. They went to the truck and proceeded to the airport to
pick up Sandburg.

They were both nervous when the people started filing out of the airplane.
Megan decided to let them have some alone time first so she walked over and
pretended to be reading a poster on the wall. Blair came walking off the
plane and saw Jim. He said, "Jim." He started running for Jim and went into
Jim's open arms. Jim and Blair didn't care who was there or who saw them;
they started to kiss. Jim hadn't seen Blair in almost 8 days. It was the
longest 8 days of his life.

Finally Blair pulled away and said, "Hey, you alright? You're shaking. You
wait till we get you home, Jim. I'll make you shake even harder." Blair
noticed that Jim tensed up when he said this and he pulled back and said,
"All right, what is up with you? I want the truth right now?"

At that very moment, Conner walked over and said, "Hi Sandy. How was the
flight?"

Blair had a look of pure confusion on his face when he saw Megan standing
there talking to him. He looked at Jim and Jim had a terrible look of dread
on his face. Blair looked from one of them to the other and said, "Oh man,
please don't tell me that you guys are thinking of getting together."

And before Jim could say anything, Blair walked off at a very brisk pace
through the airport. Jim didn't say a word to Conner; instead he took off
running after Blair.

When Jim finally caught up to him, he took him into his arms and said,
"Chief, I'd never leave you. Never. You're my life. There's nothing going
on between Conner and me. But we do have something to tell you. And we
wanted to do it together."

Blair calmed down in Jim's arms. He looked up and said, "What is going on
Jim? You look like it's something terrible."

Jim said, "Chief, could we wait till we get home and talk about it then? I
think that the airport or the truck isn't a good place to be discussing
anything important."

Before he could answer, Conner came running up and took Blair into her arms
and said, "Sandy, we'd never do anything like that to you. You know that,
right?"

"Conner," Jim said, "he has agreed that we'd discuss this all when we get
back to the loft. So, for right now, lets let it go and we'll pick it up
when home."

When they picked up Blair's luggage, they all walked out to the truck. When
they got there, Blair just stood there like he didn't know where to sit, and
Jim pulled him into his arms and said, "Stop it right now, Chief. You are
beside me as always. Forever, babe."

So Blair slid in beside Jim for the drive home. Conner filled his mind with
little stories of what had been going on at the station. But Blair was
having a hard time paying attention because he knew that there was something
going on here and sure didn't have a clue as to what it would be. But also
knew that it had both Conner and Jim upset. This scared him, but Jim said
not to worry. And he really believed that Jim did love him.

When they pulled up to the loft, Jim said, "Conner, here are they keys, we'll
be up in a second. Give us a few moments."

Jumping out of the truck, Conner said, "Sure thing, mate."

Jim pulled Blair into his arms and said, "I love you so much babe. You know
that, right? I want to take care of some business right now."

Jim pushed Blair over to the other side of the truck and undid his belt and
then his jeans. And just like that Jim had his face in Blair's lap. God,
Jim thought, I missed him so much. Nothing could ever be as good as Blair.

He was sucking on Blair's cock really hard, not giving Blair time to think
about anything. Blair was so hot for Jim that he smacked the back of his head
on the window of the truck when he started coming. Blair was really quiet
when he came because he didn't want to give all the neighbors a show their
first night home. He laid his head back against the window and petted Jim's
head. Man, how he did love this man.

Blair said, "Jim, want me to take care of something for you?"

Jim blushed and said, "Too late. I wanted you so badly. I missed you so
much babe."

Blair stared down and saw the wet spot on the front of Jim's pants. He
smiled as he kissed Jim and said, "Okay, partner, lets get upstairs so you
can clean up, change your clothes and you both can tell me what's going on."

Jim gladly carried Blair's luggage up the stairs and into the loft,
considering he needed something to cover the wet spot on his pants. He
smiled thinking about that. But the smile faded as he realized, Blair might
not be smiling in a few moments.

He took Blair's things upstairs and started unpacking them. At the same time
he was changing into some clean boxers and slacks. Blair called up the
stairs, "Get your ass down here Jim. You don't need to unpack my things yet.
You can do that later. We have things to discuss. Staying up there won't make
it go away."

Again, Jim found himself smiling just thinking about this wonderful man. He
loved Blair so much and hoped that he wouldn't leave him when he found out
what happened.

Blair and Conner watched Jim come down the stairs, and Blair couldn't help
but think Jim looks like a man that is on his way to his own execution. Man,
what the hell are they going to tell me? He was getting more nervous as Jim
got closer.

Jim heard Blair's heartbeat speed up and said, "Chief, calm down, things will
be just fine." God, I hope so, Jim thought.

Conner walked over to the sofa and said, "Sandy, come and sit down, we have
something to tell you."

Blair walked over and sat next to Jim. Jim could smell the fear on him. Jim
leaned over and kissed Blair on his ear and whispered, "don't worry, babe.
Everything will be fine. I love you, we're just fine."

Blair leaned into him and Conner started. She said, "Okay, Sandy, I'm going
to start by explaining about our stakeout and we'll go from there. And
please don't interrupt. We want to get it over with and then we can answer
anything you have to ask."

Blair glanced at both of them and said, "All right, sounds good to me. So
start. I want to hear it right now."

Jim started, "Conner and I had a stakeout assignment last night at a bar. We
were supposed to watch for Tony Moreno and had heard that he might be hanging
around there. Well, we both ordered a Coke, nothing else and the next thing
we woke up here at the loft in the same bed."

Blair's heartbeat was beating double time. He tried to remain calm but he
couldn't. He jumped up from the sofa and said, "Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. You slept
with Megan? You fucker."

And he rushed into the bathroom before either of them could say anything.
Jim was hitting his head on the back of the sofa, wishing it was harder and
he could do some damage. Blair would probably feel sorry for him if he had
blood running down his face. Hell, I am desperate, Jim thought.

Conner went to the bathroom door and said, "Sandy, you promised to listen
until we were done explaining things. You didn't keep your promise."

Blair opened the door and stormed out and said, "Oh fuck you, Conner. Oh I
guess that would be my life partner's job, right Jim? You fucker. And how
dare you tell me I'm not keeping my promise. Seems to me that my best friend
and lover didn't keep his promises. And what about you Conner, you are one of
my closest friends. You told me once that I could tell you everything, and
this is how you repay me?"

Jim got up and went over to the front door jam and started banging his head
on it, over and over again. Each time, he hit it harder. He was hoping to
draw blood soon. This idea didn't seem that odd anymore. Blair might listen
to him for about two seconds if Jim was bleeding. A headache was a small
price to pay.

Blair saw that Jim was going to really hurt himself soon, so he got up and
went over and pulled Jim away from the door jam. "Jim, you want to tell me
what the fuck you're doing?"

Jim looked at him with such sadness in his eyes; Blair thought he would cry,
as Jim said, "Chief, you have to listen to us. You really do. Things aren't
always what they seem. And then sometimes they are worse. It's all on the
way you look at it, I guess. Whatever you decide afterwards, I'll abide by
your decision."

"Fuck you, Ellison," Blair yelled, "you think you are so gallant, don't you?
Well, you're not. You're a big jerk. Fine, I'll sit and listen to the stupid
story I'm sure you have cooked up. And then I'll be leaving."

Blair went plopped himself onto the sofa. He had his face in his hands and
he waited for them to talk to him.

Conner started by saying, "Sandy, I can't believe that you would think that
we'd hurt you in any way. You know us both way too well for that. Now please
just let us explain and then we'll talk about everything else.

Jim just looked so sad as he glanced over at Conner and began by saying,
"Okay, when Conner woke up, she had no idea how we got in the bed together.
Neither of us remembers a thing and all we had to drink was a Coke. So, we
knew right away that someone drugged us. We talked about a lot of things and
decided that we'd have Dan Wolfe take some blood for testing and see what we
were given."

Blair took his hands away from his face as he said, "Man, I'm so sorry Jim.
So you didn't sleep with anyone. Well, not that kind of sleep anyhow. Babe,
I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions."

Jim said, "Well, don't go and forgive us for anything yet, Chief, I'm not
done." Blair's face fell when Jim said that. Shit, he thought what is going
on?

Conner said, "Okay, Jim, my turn. I'll see if I can tell him somewhat better
than you did. Sandy, I woke up in you and Jim's bed. Both of us were naked.
I don't know how we got there. At first I figured it was some kind of joke,
but then I realized that we had sex. Unprotected sex. Sandy you know me
well enough to know that I'd never have sex without a condom. You know this
right? So, then I was getting a little nervous."

Jim said, "Okay, so then she woke me up and told me and after I freaked out
about you finding out, she and I decided maybe we wouldn't even tell you.
Because we didn't remember a thing about it." Jim saw the face Blair was
making, like he was ready to run out of the room again, so Jim said, "So we
decided we needed to tell you and explain the whole thing to you."

Conner looked over at him and thought, wait a minute, and didn't Jim just
skip a part of the story? For once in her life, she was glad Jim didn't have
to be so fucking truthful.

Conner felt like it was her turn for the tag team event and said, "After both
of us took a shower and went to the department, we went down and had Dan draw
our blood for the tests. Dan said he'd call us both and tell us when the
results came in. We went back up to the bullpen and tried to appear busy
while we about lost our minds."

Jim decided it was his turn again and said, "Dan called about five hours
later and said that he had the results from the tests and wanted both Conner
and I to go down right away. So I collected Conner and we got down there
swiftly. When Dan saw us he told us the news about the drug first. It was a
combination of Rohypnol and something like a Mickey. So we didn't have much
control over how we were acting, feeling or not remembering."

Blair was still sitting there bewildered. Not saying a word waiting for the
end to come so he could try to process it all.

Megan decided that it was her turn again as she said, "Sandy, now comes the
really hard part. Please don't run off. Please don't be angry, we had no
control over it. Dan knew what happened so he went ahead and took a blood
test to see if I have pregnancy hormones in my blood and he said they were
present. He can tell me in a week for sure. But he is pretty certain I'm
pregnant. And Sandy, I've not been with anyone in two months, so I know that
it's Jim's."

There was pure silence as they let this news sink in. Blair just sat there
looking from one of them to the other and back again. He didn't even know
what to say. He realized that Jim and Conner had no control over what
happened. It's not like they planned it. But now what? Jim was going to
have a child with a woman, a friend of theirs and where would that leave him.

Blair being the free thinker that he is decided to take the upper hand right
off and try to gain some control. He said, "All right, first of all Jim, how
do you feel about this?"

Jim said, "Needless to say, babe, it's not the kind of news I wanted to be
giving you. I wanted a family some day, but with you. Not with anyone else.
And Conner that is nothing against you, I just didn't want it like this. We
have to find out who did this and take care of that too. There are a lot of
things we need to think about. What do you think Chief?"

Blair said, "Well, Jim, I know that you would never do this to me to hurt me.
So, I do believe you. I'll help you find the people behind this. It could
have been more dangerous than it was. You could have left and went home with
a stranger that might have not been safe. At least you know Megan is safe.
And Megan, I mean that in the best way. I also know that both of you would
make great parents, so that doesn't bother me. I am bothered that you slept
with my mate. That will always bother me. But thankfully you don't remember
it."

Conner smiled at him and said, "Sandy, thank you for not hating us. Or at
least for not hating me."

Blair always the thinking man said, "Okay, now the next thing on my mind is
where does this leave me?"

Both Jim and Conner looked at him and said, "What?"

Jim finally got his voice back and said, "Babe, what do you mean, where does
that leave you? Are you saying you're not with me? Because as far as I
know, you're with me, you're going to continue to be with me forever if I
have anything to say about it."

Blair said, "No Jim, I meant where does that leave me in the parenting role.
We always wanted a family but not with Megan. So now, she'll be the Mom,
you'll be the Dad and I'll be what? The kind Uncle?"

Jim could see where this was going. He asked him, "Would you rather that I
don't have anything to do with this child, Chief? You have a say in this.
I'll do whatever you want. You know that."

"Jim," Blair said, "you know that I would never ask you to give up seeing
your child. And you also know I would never want you to not spend quality
time with him or her. What I want to know is where do I fit in? I don't see
myself fitting in at all. I'm not complaining, just stating the facts."

Conner said, "Oh Sandy, I can't believe that you feel you wouldn't fit in to
our lives. First of all, who is my best friend here in the states?"

Blair shrugged his shoulders and said, "Rafe?"

Conner glared at Blair and said, "Sandy, its you. It's always been you there
for me. You always include me in everything. You listen when I complain.
You hug me when I am depressed. You're my best friend."

"But Conner," Blair said, "that still doesn't answer where I would fit in
this child's life. I will always be the outsider. I know there is nothing I
can do about that, but you wanted to know how I feel, and that is how I feel."

Jim walked over to Blair and took him in his arms and quietly asked, "So
Chief, are we still a we? Do you still love me? Do you still want me in your
life?"

Blair hugged him hard and said, "Jim, it would take an awful lot to make me
stop loving you. I adore you. I want you to be happy. But I'm really
confused here. I think I might need to see someone about this. I can see
problems down the road. And I never want you to chose between your child and
me."

Jim was panicking, as he said, "Blair, please don't say that. I want you. I
would choose you. I love you."

"Jim what about after you see this child," Blair asked, "and you realize what
a precious gift it is. You see how much you love this baby even though you
don't know him or her yet? You going to tell me, you'd choose me over that
child? Because I have to tell you, I would think very lowly of you if you
did."

Jim hung his head and said, "Babe, I don't want to have to chose. I want
both. Okay, I want both. I want this child but I want you. Without you, my
life would be totally empty. Conner can't fill that just because she is
having our child."

Conner said, "Okay, my turn. I think that you'll have a different name. Not
Daddy, not Mommy no doubt, but something special. We'll have to think of a
good name for you. And that will be your place in his or her life. Blair, we
can't do this without you. Say you'll at least give it some thought."

Blair smiled and said, "Well, then start thinking about the name now. I'm
not going anywhere, Jim. I love you and I'm not leaving. And Megan, I am
honored that you want me in your child's life."

They all smiled at each other and Blair said, "Man, I've got a great idea.
Just listen before you both say no."

How about we take and make my old room into a new room for Megan and the
baby. She can move in with us. That way, if she wants to go somewhere, the
baby is here with us. I'd rather not leave her or him with strangers,
especially at night. What do you think of that idea?"

Jim said, "Well, I think it could be worked on, if Megan agrees. But why
don't we first find out if she is pregnant for sure. Then we start making
plans from there."

Conner stood up and went into both of their arms and just hung on. She
finally said, "You two are the best friends I could ever hope for."

Now, thought Blair, if we could only think of a good name for me. It has to
be special. Something that baby isn't going to forget, ever.

************************************************************************

Blair asked, "Conner do you want to spend the night seeing as it has already
gotten so late?" She looked at Jim questionably and Jim nodded and said,
"That's a good idea, Chief."

So she went into the bathroom and got ready for bed while the men made up the
spare room. It was clean, just needed sheets on the bed to make it comfy.
Jim helped Blair make the bed, but kept his senses alert for any changes in
Blair. He noticed every now and then that Blair almost seemed nervous. Jim
could hardly wait to talk to him and see how he was doing with this.

After Conner came out of the bathroom, Blair took his turn and got ready for
bed. He got his sweats and a tee on and left the room and went up the
stairs, not even looking at Jim. Jim could hear Blair's heartbeat going much
too fast. Jim went into the bathroom to get ready so he could get up there
and talk to Blair. He couldn't wait to take him in his arms. Hopefully this
wouldn't ruin their lives. For one brief second Jim was crippled with fear.
The idea of no Blair Sandburg in his life was too much to think of.

When he came out, all lights were out except the bathroom one. So, shutting
that off, he started for the stairs when he heard Conner say, "Jim could you
come here for a minute?"

Jim pushed Blair's old room door open and stepped in. Conner was sitting on
the bed and looked fairly upset. She said, "Jim, I'm really scared. I don't
know if we're doing the right thing. I would sooner die than hurt Sandy.
You know that don't you?"

Jim sat next to her on the bed and said, "Conner, of course I know that. No
one wants to hurt Blair in anyway. But I don't see any way around it. We are
in a very difficult situation and have to make the best of it. I hope that
he'll love me forever, but he might not be able to deal with this. Let me
tell you, it's breaking my heart. I hate it. I'm so in love with him."

"We'll try and do everything right, Jim," Megan said, "and hopefully things
will work out just fine. Because if I lost either of you as good friends, I
would be lost."

Jim patted her on the leg and said, "Well, I need to go and talk to Blair.
I'll see you bright and early. Don't use all the hot water up."

As Jim was heading up the stairs, he thought to himself, new water heater,
soon.

When he got upstairs he heard Blair's heartbeat speed up and he also smelled
Blair's arousal. This was a very good sign. Jim stripped and climbed into
bed with his love.

Blair turned over into Jim's arms. He was so happy to be home. The
circumstances were a little odd, but he didn't care right now. He was in
love with this man and wanted him to make love to him right now. The kissing
was almost frantic.

Jim pulled away and said, "Chief, do you want to talk first? We have the rest
of our lives for this."

Blair smiled as he said, "Speak for yourself. We have the rest of our lives
for the talking, Jim. Let's enjoy the moment. I want to feel you inside of
me. And I want to be inside of you. I missed you so much."

Jim jumped out of bed, forgetting they had company and went downstairs,
naked, and got two washcloths and a box of wipes so they'd be ready for
almost anything they decided to do. He was getting hard just thinking about
the love of his life.

Lying in her bed, Megan could not help but see Jim walk by both times and
sadness filled her mind and heart. She realized that they were the lucky
ones. They had something she had never had. Some day, she'd be able to have
someone and give him what he or she gives each other.

Jim landed on the bed with a plop, and Blair laughed and said, "Giving Megan
a little show?"

Jim pulled the pillow over his head and said, "Shit, shit, shit."

Blair pulled the pillow away and started kissing him. He'd make Jim forget
everything except how much they loved each other.

Jim slid on top of Blair and as soon as their cocks touched, it was like
lightening striking. They were so damn good together. No way could this
ever stop. This was perfect. Jim started kissing Blair as their cocks
continued to rub up each other. Jim knew this wasn't going to last long at
this rate. He needed Blair too bad. He whispered, "Blair, I need you to
fuck me right now, I'm so close but I'm also exhausted. I don't know that I
can make it twice tonight. Please fuck me. Now."

Blair was always one to follow Jim's rules of the loft. So, he pushed Jim
over on his back and went between his legs. He knew that Jim loved being
sucked and he also loved being tongue fucked. He took his cock in his mouth
and sucked a few times while Jim moaned very loudly. He didn't seem to mind
that there was anyone else in the house. Excitement filled Blair as he
realized he liked the idea of Conner hearing them. Especially what he could
make Jim feel and do.

He let Jim's cock slip from his mouth and started licking his balls, Jim was
still moaning like there was no tomorrow. Then Blair licked over Jim's hole
and Jim had a hard time not coming right then. He said, "Blair, please,
you're having fun teasing me, but I'd like to come with you in me."

So Blair started getting Jim ready and the whole time he was sliding his
slick fingers into Jim, he was telling him what he was going to do to him.
The onslaught was two-fold. Jim said, "Babe, I'm so close, I need you right
now."

He slipped Jim's legs up over his shoulders and put his cock into Jim's hole
and started pushing slowly. Jim was yelling by now, begging for him to
finish. Blair pushed in all the way and felt his love growing stronger every
time he was like this with Jim. He started pounding into Jim. Not slow and
easy but hard and fast. Jim was roaring, "Fuck me Chief, harder." Blair
smiled to himself thinking what Jim would think when he remembered that they
had company. But he hit Jim's prostate twice and Jim came without Blair ever
touching his cock. And Blair had never heard Jim scream. But he did
tonight. Okay, maybe not screamed. But it was a mighty fine yell, Sandburg.
Yep, you've not lost your touch. And with that thought, Blair came into Jim
with force like he had never felt before.

Blair slowly and gently pulled out and got them cleaned up. They went into
each other's arms and went to sleep.

Jim woke up about two hours later and Blair was sleeping soundly, but he
could hear crying. Jim quickly got up and put his robe on and went down the
stairs, and into Blair's old room. Megan was crying very softly. Jim sat on
the bed and said, "Conner, what's wrong. Tell me. I might be able to help."

She scooted over and said, "Hold me please."

Jim didn't know what to do; Blair walked into the room and said, "Here Jim,
let me." He lay on the bed with Conner and held her in his arms. Jim said,
"Blair, bring her upstairs and she can sleep with us tonight."

And he turned around and went upstairs. They followed. Blair held Megan in
his arms and Jim held both of them in his arms. This is how they fell
asleep. Jim's last thought was; what the hell are we getting into here?

Jim awoke in the morning and slid out of bed without waking Conner or
Sandburg. He knew this wasn't going to work. It's as simple as that. There
wasn't enough room in this bed for three. And he didn't mean physically. He
was going to take it up with both of them during breakfast. Or maybe he'd
wait and see if it ever happened again. Yeah, that makes more sense. This
might have been a one-time thing. Jim got into the shower and enjoyed being
the first one and used as much hot water as he wanted.

Jim went upstairs and woke Conner up and told her the shower was all hers.
She got out of bed and was somewhat embarrassed, but smiled just the same and
went down the stairs. Once she was in the bathroom, he woke Blair up the way
he wanted to. He crawled into bed and slid Blair's boxers off him and slipped
Blair's cock into his mouth. Blair was wide-awake instantly. He smiled down
at Jim saying, "Good morning lover."

Jim didn't say a word; he was busy taking care of business. Two harder sucks
and Blair was coming as quietly as he could. Blair finally got his breathing
under control and flipped Jim over and took him into his mouth. Turn about
is fair play after all. He deep throated Jim and Jim came almost
immediately. Expect that Jim wasn't quiet. Blair looked up at his lover and
wondered why all of a sudden he had become so vocal. I'll have to talk to
him about it later.

They got out of bed, Jim getting dressed and Blair knowing he still had to
take that cold shower before he could get dressed. Blair started down the
stairs naked and Jim grabbed him. "What the hell are you doing?" Jim said.
"You're not going down there naked with Conner down there."

He looked over at Jim and said, "Well, why not, you did last night. Just
went prancing around the apartment naked. You didn't seem to mind."

Jim glared at him as he said, "Okay, first of all, I don't prance. I don't.
Stop laughing, Sandburg. You sure do know how to spoil a mood. And
secondly, I forgot there was anyone here last night. I had other things on my
mind at that moment. You won't be going around naked with anyone else here
and neither will I."

Jim handed Blair his robe and Blair put it on frowning, calling Jim a
spoilsport. Laughing as he walked down the stairs, Blair knew he got him
with that. He did it on purpose. He already knew that look on Jim's face.
He was in the Blair is mine phase of this talk. Watch out Conner. He can't
be dealt with when he is like that. Jim is afraid. Blair was afraid first,
and now it is Jim's turn. Seems only fair.

Jim made breakfast with Conner while Blair was in the shower. Conner said,
"Jim, I just want you to know that I won't be sleeping with you guys ever
again. I was so upset and lonely last night. But you know I would never
come between you two, right?"

Jim looked at her like she had just read his mind and said, "Well, I do now.
And thanks for understanding me."

When Blair came out of the bathroom, they all sat down to breakfast. They
talked about many things but seemed to stay away from any personal talk for
right now.

They all left the loft and got into the truck to go to work. Conner said,
"Jim, if you drop me by my flat, I'll pick my car up and that way I don't
have to keep bumming a ride with the two of you."

Jim swung by her place and pulled up and stopped. Conner said, "See you two
in the bullpen in a few. Thanks for everything, mates."

Blair smiled and said; "See you in about ten minutes, Conner. Drive careful."

Jim said, "Get a move on or you're going to be late, Conner."

She laughed and said, "Leave it to you, to point that out. Thanks guys, talk
to you soon."

Things went back to pretty much normal once they told Simon about this. They
knew they had to try and find the person that did this to them. Everyone
else was looking too but no one knew whom it was for. They just thought it
was for a victim. In all actuality, it was for victims, they just didn't know
the victims were their friends.

About three weeks later, Brown and Rafe found the guys that did the deed.
They caught them putting the drugs into someone's drink that was undercover.
They were arrested and the bust was a good one. So, they would have to pay
for it.

Dan Wolfe walked up to Megan Conner and said, "So did you want to do that
test or not? I really should run that and then I could recommend someone for
you to go to. A friend of mine is an Ob-Gyn. Megan said, "Thanks Dan, but
I'm sick every single morning, I don't think I need any damn tests."

He said, "Okay, here is his name in case you want to go and see him soon.
You really need to have yourself checked out. It won't go away just because
you don't want to deal with it."

Conner took the paper and said, "Okay, I'll call right now and make an
appointment. This is just so unfair. I've wanted to have a child all my life
and now I have it with someone that isn't with me."

Dan said, "Conner, would you like me to be your coach and breathing partner
in Lamaze?"

Shocked, Conner stared at him and said, "Dan, that would be so great. Yes,
I'd like that very much."

Dan smiled and said, "Make the appointment, Megan and I'll work my schedule
around you. I'll see you later."

Conner suddenly felt really good about things. Why was that? She had never
noticed Dan Wolfe before, but he was a really handsome man. He was really
nice too. What more could she ask for.

Jim walked up to Megan about an hour later and said, "Conner could I talk to
you?"

She followed Jim into an interrogation room and they shut the door. Jim
said, "I was wondering if you planned on having the tests done to see if
you're pregnant for sure or not. You've not said one word about it since that
night. We're a bit concerned."

"Don't worry, Jim," Conner said, "Dan Wolfe recommended someone for me to
see. I got right in. My appointment is tomorrow since Dan called and told
them about me. And Dan is going with me. I just got done talking to him.
We'll find out the due date tomorrow."

Jim looking relieved that all was fine with Conner said, "Well, that's very
good news. Good luck and let us know as soon as you find out."

He walked over to his desk and sat down and Blair said, "Everything all
right, partner? You look like you lost your best friend. But since that
would be me, I know that isn't it."

Jim smiled up at him as he said, "Conner is going to the doctor tomorrow and
Dan Wolfe is going with her. He's going to go to all appointments with her.
He's also going to be her coach."

Blair laughed and said, "Jim, Dan is great. He'll be good for Megan. Why
the long face? If I didn't know better I'd say you were jealous. But I know
better, so spit it out, what's up, man?"

Jim said, "You know me way too well. Yeah, I'm concerned about where we fit
into this. And now she has Dan to go to appointments and all, when will we
be needed? I'd say she has more or less phased us out of the equation."

"Jesus, Jim," Blair said, "talk about being overdramatic. You are such a nut
job. But you are my nut job. She'll be fine. We don't really have any part
of this until that baby is crying. Jim, that's the way it is."

"I know Chief." Jim said, "I don't know what the hell I feel anymore. One
moment I wished she wasn't, the next I can't wait to find out the due date.
I'm getting excited Chief. Are you?"

"Jim, I've been thinking," Blair said, "I know, working without tools again.
Scary thought. Anyhow, what do you think of the name, Pop-pop or Papa for
the baby to call me."

Jim got a huge grin on his face and answered, "I think Pop-Pop would be
perfect for you. But we'll have to see what Conner says. She might not like
the sound."

"Jim, I'm really excited," Blair said, "I didn't even notice how much until
this very moment. We're going to be great parents, all of us.

************************************************************

Things were moving along nicely for Megan and Dan Wolfe. They made a great
couple and Megan found herself more in love with him each month. As she
started into her seventh month, she thought maybe she would scare Dan off.
Between being bitchy and huge, she didn't think he would stick around. But
he didn't seem to mind.

Work was going well, but Dan had asked her to go on desk duty or the likes
until after the baby was born. He was worried about her and didn't want
anything happening to her. She wasn't really happy on desk duty, but at
least now her ankles didn't seem to swell so much. She was really getting so
damn fat. But she forgot about that because at that moment Dan walked into
the bullpen and smiled at her with that smile and she melted. She realized
that she wasn't any fatter than any other pregnant woman.

There was no need for Megan to move into their loft, because she and Dan
rented the loft next door to them. Right across the hall. They did it so
they'd always have someone to watch this baby. They didn't want to be too
close, but at the same time wanted to be close enough in case of an
emergency. Between the four of them, they might be able to handle one baby.

Things were going so well for all of them. Every week, Jim and Blair stopped
over to their apartment and dropped off more new things. Megan said, "Jim,
this baby is going to be so damned spoiled when he finally gets here. He has
enough clothing for ten years."

Blair started laughing and said, "I told him that, Megan, but would he
listen? No."

Megan laughed and said, "Blair, you don't have any room to talk, I swear this
baby has more books than any child could ever need, want or desire."

Dan laughed at all of them and said, "Well, thank god, I was the sane one
that went for silly things like baby furniture and things like that."

They had all become great friends, knowing that things had to be very close
and friendly to raise a child between them. Things were going to work out
just fine.

Lying in bed one night, Jim said to Blair, "Do you think we should have a say
in naming the baby? Or do you think that is out of out control? I just
don't want her naming that baby something dumb."

Blair smiled and said, "Why don't you ask her tomorrow and we'll see where it
goes. I'm sure she might let us help with at least the middle name. Don't
worry about it."

The phone rang and Jim picked it up, saying, "Ellison."

Dan was on the line saying, "Jim, could you come over, Megan thinks that
something is wrong with the baby and for some reason she says that you'd know
for sure if he was okay."

Jim said, "We'll be there in a second." Jumping up from bed, he said,
something might be wrong, Megan is asking for us. Seems to think there might
be problems with the baby."

They both dressed in record time and flew down the stairs and out the door
and across the hall and knocked on the door. They both could hear Megan
crying as they walked into their loft. Jim walked over and said, "Megan,
what's going on? What is happening that's scaring you so badly?"

She grabbed Jim's hands and said, "Feel, something is wrong, I can tell.
Tell me what you feel and hear. Please."

Jim put his hands on her belly and they he concentrated with his senses and
he heard the baby's heartbeat and he could feel it moving around. He rubbed
her stomach and the baby seemed to be calming down. Just as quickly as she
panicked, she calmed down and started falling asleep.

Dan motioned for them to follow him to the living room and he said to Jim,
"Okay, what the hell is that all about? And why did she calm down so easily
after you touched her belly? She kept saying that this baby must need his
daddy and kept crying saying that he knew you weren't here."

Jim said, "Dan I need you to sit down and listen to me for awhile. I'm going
to tell you all about the Sentinel legends that Blair did his studies on.
I'm one of them. And perhaps the baby is too. As soon as I rubbed her belly
and talked to her stomach, the baby stopped flipping around and causing the
pain to Megan. So she must think it has something to do with that too."

Dan said, "So Blair, you didn't fake your research at all. Jim really is
one?"

Blair answered, "Dan, I hope you know that we can't tell anyone about this."

Dan smiled when he said, "I feel better now. I thought she didn't want me to
be the step daddy. She kept saying don't touch him, he's confused."

Jim said, "How far along is she, Dan?"

"Seven months." Dan answered.

"Well, Dan, I think you should check on her," Jim said, "She seemed like she
was having contractions. I don't think she knows what they are. But it
seemed like contractions to me." Just then, they heard Megan calling out for
Jim.

They all went running and Dan checked her and said, "Yes, she is in active
labor and unless we want to deliver this baby ourselves. We had better get
her to the hospital."

Megan said, "Dan, will you drive so Jim can talk to him. That might slow him
down a little bit. He knows his daddy's voice."

So Dan and Blair climbed into the front seat and Jim was in the back with
Megan. He was rubbing her stomach and talking to the baby. "Megan," he
said, "do you have a name chosen for him yet? I think it would help if we
didn't just call him baby, or the baby."

Megan said, "We were thinking about Grant or Jude. Jim said, "I really like
Grant. Is he going to have my last name?" And Megan said, "Well of course he
is, Jim. Grant Ellison, what do you think of that."

Blair looked over at Dan with a very worried look on his face. And Dan met
that look with tears in his eyes. Blair new it was too soon for the baby to
come. But they let Megan and Jim have this time with Grant.

As Jim was rubbing her belly, he could hear the baby's heartbeat slowing down
and he had tears rolling down his cheeks. Megan watched him and said, "Oh
please Jim, don't tell me that he's dying. Please don't let him."

Then Jim leaned down and put his face on her belly and cried hard. She knew
that the heartbeat was gone. There would be no other reason for him to cry
like that.

Dan said, "Jim get her on her left side and see if you can get the baby to
move a little bit. The cord could be wrapped around his neck." Dan pulled
the car over and got out and ran to the back seat and got in and Jim moved so
that Dan had room. He stuck his hand into Megan to try to feel if the baby
needed to move or if the cord was stuck.

************************************************************************

"Jim, drive us to the hospital," Dan spat out, "we have to get this baby out
soon. Do you hear a heartbeat anymore, Jim?"

"I hear one now," Jim answered, pulling out into traffic. "It's getting a
little stronger, Megan. He's getting better."

"Thank God," Megan cried, "Dan, what are the baby's chances of making it born
this early?"

"Megan, I'm not going to lie," Dan said, "anytime a baby is born early it is
a risk. But they'll do everything possible for him. Try to stay calm." Dan
leaned over and kissed her softly and whispered, "I love you so much Megan."

Jim had tears in eyes as he heard these sweet words being said between two
people that loved each other as much as he and Blair loved one another.
Things had to be all right. He wanted that baby, but he also wanted Megan to
be healthy too. Jim sped up, as they got closer to the hospital.

Pulling into the ER, Jim jumped out and went and got a Nurse and a gurney.
He told them, "Dr. Dan Wolfe is here with his wife in labor. Problems, the
heartbeat stopped for a short time."

They got Megan onto the gurney and rushed her into the ER. Once there they
hooked her up to all of the machines to see how the baby was doing. At the
same time, Dan asked Jim, "Could you call the doctor and ask him to come down
right away? They're going to do an ultrasound soon."

"I already called him," Jim said, "try not to worry, just keep Megan calm."

"I'll try," a very tired Dan said, "and I'll tell her that you and Blair are
waiting here to see her. She'll like that too."

The doctor that was doing the ultrasound came into Megan's room and said, "We
are going to take some pictures of your baby, Mrs. Wolfe and see how he's
doing."

Everyone moved around not really saying too much to Megan and she watched as
her sweet husband walked into the room. He went right to her side and bent
over and kissed her saying, "Don't worry, we'll all be fine."

She closed her eyes as she tried not to think about anything but how much she
loved this dear man.

They were doing the US when the Doctor said, "Well, Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe, I see
one thing that might be a small problem."

Both of them looked upset and the doctor said, "I'm sorry, I mean, that it's
a little girl, not a little boy as you had all planned for. But things look
pretty good. These are her lungs right there; she has a nice set of lungs.
Which will come in handy if you have to deliver soon."

Megan and Dan watched the US and smiled as they saw their little girl. Tears
were in both their eyes. "Jim, will be thrilled," Dan said, "you know how
badly he really wanted a girl. Remember when you first found out?"

Then the alarm went off on the US and the contraction machine that Megan was
hooked up to. The doctors all started rushing around and pushing her gurney
to the elevator. They told Dan, "Sign the papers, Dr. Wolfe, and then join
us in surgery. We have to do an emergency C-section on her right now."

He went to the desk and signed and then went to tell Jim and Blair where they
were going, but Jim already was on his way to the elevator to go up to the
surgery floor. Blair and Jim both had an arm around Dan in the elevator.
They knew that he was scared to death. You could see it on his face. Once
they got to the floor, Dan said, "Jim and Blair, thank you for being here and
I'll tell you what's going on as soon as I hear the news or see myself."

"Good luck, Dan" Blair called out, "and tell Megan that we'll be here waiting
to see her and the baby."

Blair and Jim sat down and began the waiting game. Jim kept listening, but
didn't know what exactly what to listen for. The baby's heartbeat would
sound a lot different outside of the body than it did inside Megan. First
Jim would pace until Blair would ask him to sit down with him. Then Blair
would get up and pace until Jim called him over to sit with him. There was an
older women waiting in the room with them. She was watching and asked if they
were both waiting on their wives to have babies.

"No Ma'am," Jim said, "it's our friend that is having the baby. They are our
best friends. We're just here for support."

Blair looked at Jim really strangely and asked in a Sentinel whisper, "What
the hell do you mean by that? That is your baby. And I think it would have
been nice to hear you talk about her as if she was yours."

"Babe," Jim stated calmly, "we aren't the real parents right now. Dan and
Megan are. You know, that my name is going to be on the birth certificate,
but for now, it is their moment. It's their baby."

Blair took Jim's hand into his and they just sat and held hands. Once the
old woman looked at them with a strange look and Jim tried to pull away from
Blair, but Blair held on tighter. Then she smiled and started reading her
magazine.

Dan came out of the OR about two hours later beaming. He walked up to Jim
and hugged him hard and beat him on the back, saying, "Congratulations,
Daddy, it's a little girl. She weighed 5 pounds and is breathing beautifully."

Jim kept hugging Dan, and said, "Congratulations to you too, Dan. I'm so
glad they are both all right. Megan is all right, isn't she?"

"She doing fine," Dan said, "she's so happy to see her little girl, you
wouldn't believe." Letting go of Jim, he walked over to Blair and gave him
just as big a hug and said, "Hey, I didn't forget Pop-pop. Megan was telling
her about you in there. I think the people in there think we are a bunch of
nut cases, but Megan is thrilled and wait till you see this baby, Blair.
She's beautiful."

"Any names picked out for a girl," Blair asked, "I know you were expecting a
boy, but looks like there might be a change in plans wouldn't you say?"

"Well, Megan wants to talk to Jim about that," he stated, "and hopefully she
and Jim can come to an agreement before this baby is one year old."

They all three started laughing. They went down to the nursery and they
wheeled the baby bed over to the window and Jim got his first look at his
little girl. She was more than beautiful; she was exquisite.

******************************************************************

The doctor came out and talked to both Dan and Jim and told them how healthy
their little girl was. She was lucky indeed.

Dan and Blair finally pulled Jim away from the nursery window. "Jim," Dan
said, "if you go down and visit with Megan, you can hold your little girl in
about an hour. Besides, you two need to choose a name. Do you have any
suggestions?"

Jim smiled and said, "Yeah, I do. But I can tell you right now she won't
like it. If I do, she won't. Dan, we've always been that way. We just can't
seem to see eye to eye on things."

This made both Dan and Blair laugh. Because they all knew this was right on
the nose for the two of them. But Dan decided to try and push things a
little bit for them. "Jim you need to talk to her," he started, "whether you
like it or not. Just go in there and talk about things and see what she has
to say. She may surprise you and agree with something for a change. I do
know that you two are going to have to agree on things with this child. It's
for her. Now it's not you and Megan. It's you, Megan and baby. So grow up,
Jim. Go and talk to her."

Jim walked down to her room with his shoulders slumped, he acted like he was
going to have to face the worst thing in his life. He knocked on the door of
her room and waited, he heard a voice say, "Come in."

Jim walked in and looked shakily at Conner. She looked so weak. He wasn't
sure this was a good idea. Then before he knew what happened, he was bending
over the bed and hugging her and telling her he was glad she was all right
and that the baby was beautiful."

She smiled at him tiredly and said, "Jim we need to think of a name for her.
She is so beautiful. I had thought of a name for a girl. But then it got
sidetracked when they told us it was a boy. What do you think of the name
Jade or Jaden? I've always loved that name for a little girl."

"Megan," Jim said smiling, "if you let me choose the middle name, I'll go
along with Jaden. We can call her Jade for short. How is that?"

Megan looked at Jim like he was someone else. She asked, "Jim are you sure
you don't want to discuss it with Blair first? He might have some ideas. We
don't want to leave the other two out of this either."

"You are right, he said, "I'll go and get them and bring them in and then we
can discuss what you think of the name Wolfe for a middle name."

As he walked out of the room Megan smiled at Jim's back. She couldn't
believe how sweet that was to put Dan's name in there somewhere. Jim could be
very nice when he really tried.

The three men walked into the room and Dan walked over to the bed and kissed
Megan and asked, "How are you feeling sweetheart?" "I'm doing just fine,
Megan answered, "Jim has some ideas for the baby's names and we wanted you
two to have an opinion on it too."

"What do you both think of the name Jaden?" Jim asked, "and the middle name
would be Wolfe. So it would be Jaden Wolfe and we'd call her Jade. Well,
what do you think?" Jim and Megan sat there waiting for something from
either of them. They both seemed to be dumbfounded.

Megan said quickly, "Sandy, we could add Blair to her name, so she could be
Jaden Wolfe Blair Ellison. What do you think of that?"

"I think that would be wonderful," Sandburg said quietly, "it is a beautiful
name for a beautiful little girl." Blair didn't need to mention to Jim that
Wolfe as the middle name was more or less after him too. Maybe his spirit
animal would keep her safe as it did him. Blair then walked over to the bed
and gave her a hug.

Jim and Megan signed the papers that they had notarized before hand and all
was legal now. Jim and Megan now had a daughter.

Jim sat down and said, "Megan and Dan, I'm going tomorrow and setting up her
trust fund for college. It'll be all taken care of. And I've set it up with
the PD to take out a percentage the judge said would be the fair amount to
pay for child support. And we will have her every other weekend and any
other time you want time off, right?"

"Jim, it almost sounds like we are getting the best deal," Megan said, "I
think you should maybe try to make things a little difficult so I don't have
to look for that pod at the loft."

Blair started laughing and said, "Man, he is looking and acting like a real
softie, isn't he? Little girls will do that to their daddies. I can't wait to
hold her. Thank you Megan for letting us help you raise her and be a part of
her life."

Dan said, "Well, here comes our little angel now. We'll all get the gowns on
and get scrubbed up and they'll let us all hold her. And we can discuss her
life and how we'll deal with things. But in the mean time, I say we live for
today."

All of them were misty eyed as they prepared to hold this little person in
their arms and make every one of them so complete. There weren't any more
questions of where do I belong, or who am I to this child. Each person was
important. They were a family unit. And they'd be a family unit
everlastingly. Knowing there might be problems down the road, didn't dissuade
them from being happy. They would cross that bridge when they came to it.
But they all knew that there was love for one special person. Her name was
Jaden Wolfe Blair Ellison. That's who gave them all hope and joy.

The end.
